Peppermint Hot Chocolate Mason Jars

Looking for a warm and delicious treat to share with friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors? Peppermint hot chocolate mason jars should do the trick, and all they will have to do is add water to enjoy this warm and cozy beverage. This simple holiday DIY can be done in just minutes.

For the hot chocolate you will need: 8 oz mason jars, dry milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, candy canes, granulated sugar, small marshmallows.

For the decorations you will need: Holiday fabric, bakers twine, cardstock, paper.  I found these adorable chalkboard labels on The 36th AVENUE. You can download the labels here.

How to Make the Jars

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup dry milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/8 cup crushed candy canes
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • enough small marshmallows to cover the top

Directions:

Crush candy canes in the the food processor into a powder form. Layer ingredients in the order listed above and press firmly after adding each layer. Lastly add a layer of marshmallows on the top. The marshmallows are not only a delicious topping but are also a way to hold everything in place. Seal the jar with the lid and decorate with fabric and bakers twine.

I printed the directions "mix all ingredients in a bowl and add 1 cup of hot water to 1/4 cup of mixture" on an address label and placed it on the back of the decorative tags.

Each 8oz jar makes about three servings.
